What is Mission: Executive Function?
Mission: Executive Function introduces a simple at-home program that is designed for parents who seek expert guidance implementing a more helpful and cool-headed home study environment -one that fosters greater independence and self-regulation. The lively presentation shares a helpful executive function framework that is practical, relevant, and useful to parents and students alike. Families exit the consult with a wealth of helpful information and resources to make an action plan, immediately. |
This 1:1 Zoom consult explores a simple conceptual model of executive function and a variety of flexible, age-appropriate tools and techniques to help parents:
- Understand the concept of self-regulation and its critical role in learning and life
- Organize environments, interactions, and a workspace that enables greater focus
- Implement an action plan that clarifies agreed-upon goals, actions, and shared responsibilities
- Explore software options that block or limit devices' access to distracting apps and websites
- Build bridges between supports at school/tutors and home
- Reflect on their executive function profiles and their impact on interactions, home learning, and organization
- Intervene more helpfully now, rather than putting it off until adolescence or later.
The single greatest predictor of academic success is executive function. It even trumps IQ."
