When choosing the right educational support, parents have a wide range of choices and considerations. Dan Leibowitz's approach and experience offer a number of benefits that distinguish Innovative Learning Services from other options:
Dan Leibowitz was born and raised in Connecticut and spent much of his childhood in New England, where he later earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Vermont. After graduating from UVM in 1991 he pursued his interest in working with kids by earning a Master's in Education and his Connecticut teaching credential. In 1995 he was hired by Weston, CT Public Schools to create and deliver the 6th-grade language arts and study skills curricula. After two years of general education classroom teaching, he relocated to San Francisco, where he soon enrolled in San Francisco State's Special Education Master's and Educational Therapy programs and opened his private practice.
The internet boom of the late 1990s sparked Dan's interest in assistive technology and he quickly developed an expertise in these software and hardware tools. He began delivering lively presentations and working with families and schools all over the Bay Area. Dan was hired by Drew High School in 1999 to direct its emerging Learning Support Program and later by the Jewish Community High School to build its Student Support program. After having kids of his own, he worked at Town School as a Learning Specialist.
Through 20 years of in-depth experience working with students with LDs and ADD, their teachers, parents, and school leaders Dan has developed a keen appreciation for the kinds of challenges these students face, as well as the wide range of helpful tools and instructional methodologies that support a wide range of learners.
Dan now works and lives in Marin County, CA.
